May Fellowship Trip
May 3-4, Troop 148 enjoyed a one-of-a-kind camping experience thanks to the generosity of a troop family who welcomed us onto their stunning 80-acre property in Brown County. Nestled just under an hour from St. Paul’s, this certified Family Forest and timber farm offered a unique blend of rustic adventure and resort-style amenities for our Scouts.
From the moment we arrived Friday evening, the focus was clear: Scout-led activities and fellowship. The sprawling land offered a playground of natural beauty and recreational fun. Scouts explored multiple wooded trails, fished in a pond teeming with catch-after-catch success, and enjoyed indoor downtime in a finished pole barn complete with a basketball court, ping pong table, and darts.
Our campsite meadow, just past the barn, featured a cozy fire ring and quick access to water and facilities. A short walk up the drive led to the log cabin residence, where Scouts had access to bathroom amenities in the unoccupied finished basement—a rare luxury on a typical campout.
Beyond the fun, the trip also emphasized service and conservation. Scouts had the chance to contribute to important forest stewardship by taking part in a conservation project, building rabbit habitats, as a creative and meaningful way to give back to the land.
This campout truly showcased the best of Scouting: leadership, fellowship, and stewardship in the great outdoors. A heartfelt thank you to the family who made it possible!
